August 21, 1934 – July 24, 2015
Lyons – Audrey, 80, lost her battle with cancer on July 24 in Lyons. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. As a teenager, Audrey’s family moved to Orange County, CA, later she moved to Chemult in 1997 and settling in Lyons in 1999. She married Jeremiah “Jerry” C. McNerney on January 10, 1982 in Culver City, CA, he preceded her in death on August 19, 2009. Audrey was the Assistant City Manager for the City of Lyons for 13 years. Audrey was
loved and admired by so many and her passing will leave an unfillable void in the lives of her family and those who knew her. She was among the first to become a para-legal when the career path opened. She also worked for many years in the real estate industry which allowed her to travel and fly around the country visiting many states and engendering friends across the nation. She was most at home when she could care for others and always sought to put the needs of others before her own. She was an avid reader and enjoyed many types of music and theatre. She especially enjoyed sharing those activities with her friends and family. Travelling was a passion and she always looked forward to the next adventure. Whenever called upon she
willingly pitched in to assist with or lead community events and activities. She was known for being the consummate “lady”. Always impeccably coiffed and well-read in social graces; she was sought after to attend and participate in events and activities throughout the canyon. But most importantly, she was a strong yet tender “mother” to those she was related to as well as those she cared for; always sharing a tender, supportive word and a kind hand. She will be eternally missed. Audrey is survived by her daughter: Leanne Lail of Lyons; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Neil Besner and brother, Paul Arbour. Interment will be in Fox Valley Cemetery, Lyons on August 15th at 1p.m. with a memorial and celebration of life following. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
